1. In the science class, the descriptions of parasites Toxoplasma gondii and botfly are true, not just made up to support the story.
2. The brief picture of the virus as seen on one of the newscasts is the same graphic used in the movie Outbreak (1995) to represent the Motaba Virus, using a red color tint rather than blue. However, the fictional Motaba Virus looks very similar to the Ebola Virus.
3. The infected occasionally make a clicking sound that is highly reminiscent of the antagonists from the video game The Last of Us.
