Trivia[]

  • The movie was based in Roth's 2007 short film Thanksgiving. It was a satirical, fake trailer featured in the 2007 double bill Grindhouse.
  • Amanda Barker (who plays the role of Lizzie) is actually from Hanover, Massachusetts and she is the 9th great niece of John Carver. Her accent in the movie is genuine.
  • The cosmetology classroom was not in the script, nor was it originally intended to involve Jessica's chase scene. It was a real location the filmmakers discovered while filming at Waterdown District High School and decided to incorporate into the movie.
  • Co-writer and director Eli Roth has been friends with the mother of Milo Manheim (who plays the role of Ryan) since he was 20 years old and has known Milo since he was a day old.
  • Eli Roth cited the time period of November to December, as the time of Christmas and family films, wanting to break the template with a November horror movie.
  • Principal photography took only five weeks, in Toronto and Hamilton, Ontario, from March 13 to May 5, 2023.
  • Gina Gershon worked on this film for only two days.
  • Eli Roth's and screenwriter Jeff Rendell's original idea for The Carver's motives was that he was a boy who had fallen in love with a turkey his dad killed for the holiday and in retaliation, murdered his whole family. Years later he would come back to take revenge on his town after being sent to a mental institution for the crime.
