- Kubo and the Two Strings (2016) [The Sisters]: Voicing a dual role as a pair of supernatural sisters, Rooney dies twice: (1) Sliced in half with a sword (off-screen) by her sister (Charlize Theron) at the end of a fight; we only see Charlize lunging, followed by Rooney's split mask dropping into the water. (2) Destroyed when Art Parkinson plays a destructive note from his shamisen.
- The Discovery (2017) [Isla]: Shot to death by Riley Keough to allow her into the afterlife. She is later seen in Jason Segel's afterlife, which depicts him trying to prevent her death.
