- The Ghost Goes West (1935) [Murdoch Glourie/Donald Glourie]: Playing a dual role as an 18th-century nobleman ("Murdoch") and his 20th-century descendant ("Donald"), "Murdoch" is reportedly killed in an accident and appears as a ghost throughout present-day sequences. (I haven't seen this movie, but I read the premise).
- Goodbye, Mr. Chips (1939) [Mr. 'Chips' Chipping]: Dies of old age with a doctor by his bedside. (he's made up to appear much older than he actually was at the time). (Nominated and Won the Oscar)
