- Ringu (Ring) (1998) [Sadako Yamamura]: Thrown down a well by Daisuke Ban, many years before the story starts. Her death is shown on a supernatural videotape that Nanako Matsushima and Hiroyuki Sanada watch; her skeleton is shown when Nanako goes down the well in an attempt to lift the curse; and her ghost appears when she crawls out of a TV set to kill Hiroyuki. (Her face is never shown at any point during the movie, except for one close-up of her eye visible through her hair.)
- Ringu 2 (Ring 2) (1999) [Sadako Yamamura]: In the sequel, her skull is shown in the morgue as a technician prepares to reconstruct her face, and her ghost is shown in the well when Miki Nakatani and Rikiya Otaka suddenly find themselves in the well. (Her face is actually shown in this movie, albeit covered with strange make-up.)
