Rance Howard (1928 - 2017)
Film Deaths[]
- Where The Lilies Bloom (1974) [Roy Luther]: Dies of old age/sickness in his bed. He is then buried in a field by his children.
- Ticks (1993) [Sheriff Parker]: Killed by being shot to death Barry Lynch or Michael Medeiros. His body is seen when it's pulled out of the lake by Virginya Keehne and Dina Dayrit, who are fishing.
- Mars Attacks! (1996) [Texan Investor]: Killed, along with others when the Martians split the High Vegas hotel in half vertically.
- The Night Caller (1998) [Hank]: Shot in the chest by Tracy Nelson outside Rance's home, while Shanna Reed looks on in horror.
- Evasive Action (1998) [Train Engineer]:To be added
- Toolbox Murders (2004) [Chas Rooker]: Thrown against a wall by Christopher Doyle. (the DVD includes a deleted scene in which Angela Bettis returns his body and discovers that it's now severely decomposed, indicating that he's been dead and a ghost the whole time. There is no confirmation of his ghostly nature in the finished movie.)
Television Deaths[]
- Combat!: The Bridge at Chalons (1963) [Wilkerson]: Shot to death by a German soldier as he and the rest of the squad were trying to reach a bridge that was targeted for demolition.
- Bonanza: A Time To Die (1971) [Sam]: Dies of asphyxiation in his quarantined jail cell having been bitten by a rabid wolf early on.
- Gunsmoke: In Performance Of Duty (1974) [Frank Benton]: Shot in his ranch house, after being robbed, by David Huddleston.
- Huckleberry Finn (1975 TV) [Pap Finn]: Shot to death (off-screen). Is shown afterwards floating in the river when Ron Howard and Antonio Fargas discover him, but Antonio does not inform Ron of the body's identity until later on. (I haven't seen this version, but I'm familar with the story.)
- Beyond Belief: Fact or Fiction: The Viewing (1997) [Reginald Hannon]: Dies of old age/natural causes some time before the story begins. He appears as a ghost to Eric Christian Olsen in order to place his medals on his body, and his body is seen in a coffin when Eric views it.
- Angel: Carpe Noctem (2001) [Marcus Rosco]: Presumably dies of a heart attack after David Boreanaz reverses Rance's spell and switches their spirits back into their own bodies; it's not confirmed whether or not the attack was fatal.
- CSI: NY: Fare Game (2006) [Samuel Cooper]: Dies off-screen presumably of old-age/natural causes, shortly before the start of the episode; he appears only in a videotaped message playing at his funeral.
