Plot[]
A French anthropologist who is an expert on nomads, stumbles across a group of urban nomads who turn out to be more than he expected.

- Arnold Schwarzenegger stated in his memoir "Total Recall" that he was so impressed by the film's tense atmosphere, made on a low budget, that he convinced the producers to hire John McTiernan to direct Predator (1987).
- The film's protagonist, Pommier, was originally meant to be played by legendary French actor Gérard Depardieu, but when he declined the role, Brosnan, an Irish actor who was at the time only known for his quite popular TV series 'Remington Steele' (1982 - 1987) about a female private detective who partners up with a former gentleman thief, immediately agreed to play it, believing that in order to avoid being typecast for the rest of his career he'd need to prove that he can play roles other than those of English rogues or gentlemen.
- Pierce Brosnan's first leading role in a feature film. He would later work again with John McTiernan on The Thomas Crown Affair (1999).
- The voice of the professor from Boston over the phone is director John McTiernan.
- In the beginning, in the hospital a Dr. Benway is paged over the hospital intercom. Dr. Benway is a recurring character in the works of William Burroughs, most notably 'Naked Lunch'.
- Famous British new wave musician and occasional actor Adam Ant appears as the leader of the gang, but has no dialogue.
- Anna Maria Monticelli and John McTiernan were in a relationship. Isabella Monticelli-McTiernan is their daughter.
- Mary Woronov (Dancing Mary) is a famous underground artist and genre actress who appeared in films by Andy Warhol, including the underground classic Chelsea Girls (1966), as well as numerous cult classic films of the 1970s, 1980s and 1990s, including Death Race 2000 (1975), Rock 'n' Roll High School (1979) and Night of the Comet (1984).
- Second screen appearance from legendary singer and songwriter Josie Cotton.
- Nina Foch, a classic film noir star and scream queen of the 1940s and 1950s crime and horror films by Columbia Pictures, appears only briefly in a sequence near the beginning as the "Real Estate Agent".
- The heavy metal part of the film's highly atmospheric soundtrack was composed by famous rock musician Ted Nugent.
