Synopsis[]

- Rahul Kohli and Mike Flanagan's love of Joel Miller from "The Last of Us" inspired Sheriff Hassan's dress sense.
- In Mike Flanagan's previous work "Gerald's Game", Jessie (Carla Gugino) throws a book at the dog with the title "Midnight Mass", which is also the name of the book Maddie (Kate Siegel) was writing in "Hush".
- Mike Flanagan stated in several interviews, and posted on Twitter, that "Midnight Mass" was something he had always wanted to make. He also stated that the entire series was filmed with everyone having to follow quarantine procedures because of COVID-19. He personally thanked everyone involved in the project.
- In Riley's room, some Christopher Pike books can be seen on a shelf. Mike Flanagan's next project is based on a Christopher Pike novel titled 'The Midnight Club'.
- Ed Flynn is seen reading Stephen King's "Revival", which Mike Flanagan was once set to direct for film, about a faith healer and a recovering addict.
- Riley has a poster for "The X-Files" hanging in his room. Co-star Annabeth Gish played Agent Monica Reyes in the show.
- First appearing in the 2nd episode, the Lasser Glass from Oculus (2013) can be seen in the rec centre on the stage. Both Oculus and Midnight Mass (2021) are directed by Mike Flanagan. The Lasser Glass also appears in several other of Mike Flanagan's works.
- Henry Thomas (Ed) and Kristin Lehman (Annie) are older than their on screen son, Zach Gilford (Riley) by only 10 and 11 years, respectively.
- The series creator / director Mike Flanagan has been married to Kate Siegel (Erin Greene) since 2016.
- Crockett Island is modeled on remote Tangier Island in Chesapeake Bay, which also has an abandoned neighbor called the Uppands. Crockett is one of the most prominent family names on Tangier.
- Riley has posters of the films 'Se7en' and 'Scream (1996)' on his bedroom wall.
