- Rashomon (Rashômon) (1950) [Takehiro Kanazawa]: There are various tales throughout the movie on how Masayuki is murdered, but most involve Toshirô Mifune stabbing him with a sword.
- The Idiot (Hakuchi) (1951) [Kinji Kameda]: Frozen to death, along with Toshirô Mifune, after they fall asleep in the unheated house; we last see them lying on the floor as the candles go out.
- The Eternal Breasts (1955) [Hori]: Dies off screen.
- Night Drum (1958) [Miyaji]: Stabbed to death by Rentarô Mikuni and his household in retaliation for seducing his wife (and causing her to commit suicide in dishonor).
