Film Deaths[edit | edit source]
- Red Sorghum (Hong gao liang) (1987) [Narrator's Grandmother]: Machine-gunned (along with her maid) by Japanese soldiers as the two women are bringing food to the Chinese resistance fighters. Her body is shown again afterwards lying on the ground after the battle is over.
- Ju Dou (1990) [Ju Dou]: Commits suicide by setting fire to the silk mill while she's inside; the movie ends with her inside the burning mill.
- Farewell My Concubine (Ba wang bie ji) (1993) [Juxian]: Commits suicide by hanging herself. (I can't recall whether her death was shown or whether it was off-screen).
- Shanghai Triad (Yao a yao, yaodao wai po qiao) (1995) [Xiao Jingbao]: Murdered off-screen for betraying her boss.
- Mulan (2020) [Xian Lang]: Shot in the chest with an arrow by Jason Scott Lee when she sacrifices herself in order to save Liu Yifei.
