- I Wake Up Screaming (Hot Spot) (1941) [Police Inspector Ed Cornell]: Commits suicide by drinking poison in his apartment, while talking to Victor Mature.
- This Gun for Hire (1942) [Willard Gates]: Shot in the chest by Alan Ladd in Tully Marshall's office.
- The Lodger (1944) [Slade]: Commits suicide by jumping through a window and into the river when cornered by police; his body is shown floating in the river afterwards.
- Hangover Square (1945) [George Harvey Bone]: Burned to death after a fire breaks out in the concert hall, and he remains seated at his piano to play his symphony through to the end. We see him sitting at the piano as the room goes up in flames around him. (This film was released a year after Laird's real-life death)
