Film Deaths[]

Iron Man 2 (2010) [Howard Stark]: Dies (off-screen) in a car crash years before the film begins; he is only seen in film footage his son (Robert Downey Jr.) watches. (Note: His cause of death was mentioned in the first film, but not described in full here.)
Captain America: Civil War (2016) [Howard Stark]: Thanks to security footage Daniel Brühl shows Robert Downey Jr. during the climax of the film, it's revealed in this film that John was actually beaten to death by the brainwashed Sebastian Stan, shortly after Sebastian forced John's car off the road; he then murdered Hope Davis and placed John's body back in the driver's seat to make it look like an accident.

Desperate Housewives: Somethings Coming (2007) [Victor Lang]: Impaled through the back with a shard of fence, while attempting to kill Ricardo Antonio Chavira during a tornado.

Dishonored (2012) [Admiral Havelock]: It is possible for John to die in the following ways: (1) Killed by the player character during the finale, the exact nature of his death being dependent on the player's actions. (2) Falls to his death (taking Chloë Grace Moretz with him if the player does not save her) after jumping off a walkway. (He survives the game if the player character does not kill him and is able to prevent his suicide attempt, though given that his character is guilty of treason, he is probably executed anyway. This is confirmed early in the comic book series.)
