  • Black Fury (1935) [Mike Shemanski]: Beaten to death by police, after Barton MacLane backs against a nail in a post and assumes that John had stabbed him.
  • The Devil and Daniel Webster (All That Money Can Buy) (1941) [Miser Stevens]: Dies of a heart attack (off-screen) when Simone Simon forces him to dance with her on the ballroom floor; his spirit appears afterwards as a moth that Walter Huston captures, and his body is shown when James Craig looks into the ballroom and sees him.
  • Jungle Book (Rudyard Kipling's Jungle Book) (1942) [The Barber]: Stabbed to death by Frank Puglia while John is asleep, after John, Frank, and Joseph Calleia find the treasure in the jungle.
  • Passion (1954) [Gaspar Melo]: Shot in the chest by Rodolfo Acosta in a shoot-out at John's farmhouse.
  • My World Dies Screaming (Terror in the Haunted House) (1958) [Jonah Snell]: Neck snapped when William Ching throws him over a balcony and he lands on the stairwell; his body is shown again later on when Gerald Mohr hides him in the basement. (Thanks to Stephen)
