- The Vanishing (Spoorloos) (1988) [Saskia Wagter]: Buried alive (off-screen) by Bernard-Pierre Donnadieu after Bernard-Pierre chloroforms Johanna into unconsciousness. The chloroforming is shown in a flashback, but we don't find out what happened afterwards until Bernard-Pierre buries Gene Bervoets alive so Gene will experience what she went through. We see Johanna at the end of a tunnel of light as Gene runs out of air. (See also Sandra Bullock in the 1993 version.)
