Joan Hackett in Assignment to Kill

Joan Hackett (1934 - 1983)

Film Deaths:Edit

  • Assignment to Kill (1968) [Dominique Laurant]: Hits her head on the corner of a table after being knocked down by Leon Greene; Leon then undresses her body and places her in a bathtub to make it look like she slipped and fell in the tub. Her body is shown afterwards when Patrick O'Neal discovers her.
  • Deadly Rivals (Rivals) (1972) [Christine]: Burned to death in a fire started by her son (Scott Jacoby) in an attempt to kill her lover (Robert Klein). We see her trapped in the burning building; some subsequent dialogue confirms that she didn't get out.
  • The Last of Sheila (1973) [Lee]: Wrists slit by Richard Benjamin, after he drugs her and puts her in the bathtub to make her death look like a suicide. Her body is shown afterwards when Richard "discovers" her, and the murder is shown in a flashback later on. (Thanks to Dick Hertz, Steve, and George)

TV DeathsEdit

  • Five Desperate Women (1971 TV) [Dorian]: Killed (off-screen, exact method unclear); her body is shown afterwards when her friends discover her. (Thanks to Dick Hertz)
  • Reflections of Murder (1974) [Claire Elliott]: Dies of a heart attack when Sam Waterston and Tuesday Weld devise a plot to literally scare her to death. (I haven't seen this movie, but I have seen the 1955 film Diabolique, on which it is based.) (Thanks to Dick Hertz)
  • Mourning Becomes Electra (1978 TV) [Christine Mannon]: Commits suicide by shooting herself. (I haven't seen this version, but I have seen Katina Paxinou's death in the 1947 version.) (Thanks to Rick)
