  • Archie Bunker's Place: Archie Alone Part I (1980) [Edith Bunker]: Dies (off-screen) of a stroke during her sleep, a month before the episode begins. Stapleton did not actually appear in this episode (having left the series during the previous season), but the circumstances of her death were revealed by Carroll O'Connor.
  • Something's Afoot (1982; TV play) [Miss Tweed]: Strangled when a mechanical claw grabs her scarf and pulls it, while she's talking to Andy Gibb. (Played for comic effect.) (This was a televised stage play that aired on Showtime.)
  • A Most Deadly Family (Like Mother Like Son: The Strange Story of Sante and Kenny Kimes) (2001 TV) [Irene Silverman]: Strangled by Mary Tyler Moore and Gabriel Olds; her body is shown (wrapped up) afterwards as Mary and Gabriel carry her out to the trunk of their car. (Thanks to Bryan)
