Television Deaths[]

Rescue Me: Guts (2004) [Jimmy Keefe]: Killed in a terrorist attack prior to the events of the episode (off-screen); he appears as a hallucination to his cousin (Denis Leary) throughout the series.
Engaged to a Psycho (2018) [Jimmy]: Dies of a fear-induced heart attack after Melissa Bolona withholds his pills (off-screen); his body is shown when Anna Hutchison discovers him.

Video Game Deaths[]

Max Payne (2001) [Max Payne]: In a nightmare, James hallucinates shooting another version of himself after the latter had shot Haviland Morris. James survives the actual game's events.
Max Payne 2: The Fall of Max Payne (2003) [Max Payne]: While in the hospital after being shot by Jennifer Server, James hallucinates being shot by Wendy Hoopes. Later, after being shot in the head by Jonathan Davis, James hallucinates standing over his own body along with Vince Viverito. James survives the game in reality.
Control (2019) [Zachariah Trench]: Shoots himself in the head with the Service Weapon off-camera after realizing he's been infected by the Hiss; we only see James raise the gun to his head and then hear a gunshot. His body is found afterwards by Courtney Hope, and his final memories are played throughout the game to Courtney. Later, during a Hiss-induced nightmare, James is shot again with the Service Weapon by Sean Durrie. Finally, Courtney shoots James with the Service Weapon in order to escape the nightmare.
Alan Wake 2 (2023) [Alex Casey/Mr. Scratch]: Playing a dual role, "Casey" is shot by Matthew Porretta/Ilkka Villi in the Dark Place after Matthew/Ilkka was possessed by his alter ego, "Mr. Scratch". Later, also in the Dark Place, "Casey" is torn apart offscreen by the Dark Presence; he's found shortly after by Matthew/Ilkka, with "Casey" cursing Matthew/Ilkka in his dying breath. "Scratch" is driven out of "Casey" when Matthew/Ilkka presses the Clicker after finishing the manuscript of Return. "Casey", and James in general, survives the game.
