- The Big Trail (1930) [Bill Thorpe]: Shot in the back by Tully Marshall in the woods, just as Ian is about to shoot John Wayne.
- The Deciever (1931) [Reginald Thorpe]: Stabbed to death (off-screen) by Sidney Bracey. His body is shown afterwards; However, the corpse is played by Ian's stand-in John Wayne.
- The Buccaneer (1938) [Sen. Crawford]: Stabbed off-camera by Fredric March in a swordfight.
- Fog Island (1945) [Dr. Lake]: Drowned along with Lionel Atwill, Veda Ann Borg and Jerome Cowan when the room they're trapped in gets flooded.
- The Three Musketeers (1948) [Rochefort]: Killed in a duel by Gene Kelly.
- The Ten Commandments (1956) [Rameses I]: Dies (off-screen) of old-age/natural causes at some point between the opening prologue sequence and the body of the film.
