Ian Hendry (1931 - 1984)

Film Deaths[]

  • The Hill (1965) [Staff Sergeant Williams]: Beaten to death by Ossie Davis and Jack Watson, when Ian prepares to beat Sean Connery in his cell.
  • Casino Royale (1967) [bit]: Though his part was cut from the finished film (and now is believed to be lost), it's explained that his character died and the only scene still in the film is a corpse (which is his) being removed.
  • The Southern Star (1969) [Karl Ludwig]: Shot repeatedly in the back by Orson Welles, as Ian shoots at the escaping George Segal, Ursula Andress and Johnny Sekka. (on top of a previous shot to the shoulder/chest by George).
  • Journey to the Far Side of the Sun (1969) [John Kane]: Killed when the space capsule containing him, and Roy Thinnes crash lands on Doppelganger (Roy Thinnes however survives the accident but best comes out looking disheveled).
  • Get Carter (1971) [Eric Paice]: Hit on the head with a rifle butt by Michael Caine (in addition to having been forced to drink an entire bottle of alcohol by Michael), then placed in the conveyor of a rock quarry so that he falls a great distance when it reaches the end.
  • Tales from the Crypt (1972) [Carl Maitland]: Killed in a car accident; he returns to life as a zombie (in a lengthy sequence filmed from his point of view), unaware that he's dead until he finally sees his reflection in a mirror. The death appears twice: once during a dream sequence, and again when it happens for real. (It's revealed at the end that him and the "tourists" are all ghosts, and that their stories weren't warnings of the future but accounts of what had already happened to them.)
  • Captain Kronos, Vampire Hunter (1974) [Kerro]: Slashed to death (along with Trevor Lawrence and Terence Sewards) by Horst Janson in a tavern, when Horst draws his sword in self-defense and strikes before they can react.
  • The Internecine Project (1974) [Alex Hellman]: Takes a lethal dose of his diabetic medicine which was switched out by Michael Jayston
  • Damien: Omen II (1978) [Michael]: Buried alive, along with Leo McKern, when the underground chamber collapses around them. (Thanks to Robert)
