- Fail-Safe (1964) [Betty Black]: Killed (off-screen) when her husband (Dan O'Herlihy) has to drop a nuclear bomb on New York City as a sacrifice to prevent all-out war with the Soviets; the bombing is depicted by a series of freeze-frames of city life, followed by a black screen and the closing credits.
