Synopsis

In this reimagining of Clive Barker's seminal Hellraiser franchise, a young woman (Odessa A'zion) must confront the sadistic, supernatural forces behind an enigmatic puzzlebox responsible for her brother's disappearance.

Trivia

1. This is the first Hellraiser movie to have a female Pinhead. In Clive Barker's original novella The Hellbound Heart, Pinhead - a title Barker dislikes, preferring "Hell Priest," which was not used before Barker's 2015 novel The Scarlet Gospels - is described as 'modified' to the point that it appears sexless.
2. In October 2008 The Hollywood Reporter announce that the cup had passed to Pascal Laugier (who directed Martyrs) to write and direct this 'dream project'... and Clive is now reported as saying it's become a "re-configuring" rather than a remake. March 2009 brought a treatment heading Clive's way for his thoughts, but in June 2009 Clive mentioning that Pascal Laugier is no longer directing.
3. In October 2010 Dimension Films announcing (via Variety ) that Todd Farmer and Patrick Lussier would be taking on this project, with production slated for the new year ahead of a late 2011, early 2012 release. However, following the release of Hellraiser: Revelations to secure continuing rights, sees Todd Farmer confirming that he and Lussier are no longer involved.
4. Originally scheduled for a September 5, 2008 release, the January 9, 2009, that was the last planned date.
5. In February 2008 was reported that Marcus Dunstan and Patrick Melton would write the script.
6. In October 2007 saw Alexandre Bustillo and Julien Maury confirm they would be directing the project, with Clive Barker producing. In April 2008 Maury and Bustillo left the project.
