Many famous actress and soon to be famous actress were considered for the role of Scarlett O'Hara before Vivien Leigh was casted. It got a book called The Search for Scarlett O’Hara: Gone with the Wind and Hollywood’s Most Famous Casting Call about the searching the actress to be cast as Scarlett O'Hara.
Half of the US Population watched this movie.
It is controversial of the portrayal of depicting black stereotypes, slave ownership and the confederates being good.
Hattie McDaniel was the first black actor/actress to win an Oscar in acting category.
