Gale Sondergaard's death in The Blue Bird
Gale Sondergaard (1899 - 1985)
Film Deaths[]
- The Llano Kid (1939) [Lora Travers]: Killed (persumably shot, though I don't know for certain) by Alan Mowbray.
- The Blue Bird (1940) [Tylette]: Playing a cat changed into human form, she is burned to death in a forest fire that she had brought about in an attempt to kill Shirley Temple and Johnny Russell. The cat appears at the end of the movie after Shirley and Johnny return home; it's left up for the viewer to decide whether the entire adventure was only a dream, or whether she only lost one of her nine lives.
- The Black Cat (1941) [Abigail Doone]: Hanged (off-screen) by Gladys Cooper in Gale's room; her body is shown afterwards when the others discover her.
- Appointment in Berlin (1943) [Gretta van Leyden]: Commits suicide by taking a poison capsule, before the Gestapo can arrest her.
- The Strange Death of Adolf Hitler (1943) [Anna Huber]: Shot to death by the Gestapo after she kills Ludwig Donath.
- The Spider Woman Strikes Back (1946) [Zenobia Dollard]: Burned to death, along with Rondo Hatton after she attempts to destroy some evidence and the fire goes out of control.
