Trivia[]
- Nearly every member of the military (Mustang, Hawkeye, Fury, Havoc, Hughes, and even Riza's dog, Black Hayate) is named after some type of mid-20th century military aircraft. Most of them are WWII-era airplanes. The exception to the aircraft rule is Bradley, who seems to be named after a modern APC, which was named after WW2 General Omar Bradley.
- The "introduction to alchemy" book in the 3rd episode is actually a dungeons and dragons book with a transmutation circle in it.
- Dante's name in Latin means "Everlasting".
- Wrath is unique among the Humunculi because his own body was used for his transmutation; so he can never be weakened in the same way of the other Humunculi aside from making him use up the red stones in his body.
- Within the military, State Alchemists carry ranks equivelant to Majors and can be promoted from there up.
- The names of the homunculi are all named after the seven deadly sins.(Pride, Envy, Lust, Gluttony, Greed, Sloth and Wrath)
- This anime's storyline originally started off based on the manga. However, due to the FMA chapters being released more slowly in Japan (unlike most other manga series), the last half focused on an original plotline to help finish the storyline; along with the later release of Fullmetal Alchemist the Movie: Conqueror of Shamballa (2005). The later release of Fullmetal Alchemist: Brotherhood (2009) would officially reboot the story in order to completely follow the original manga storyline
- During the flashback scene of the State Alchemists being called in during Episode 15, one of the State Alchemists seen resembles Ling Yao, a character from the manga. While Ling was never adapted in this series, he would later be adapted in the second anime Fullmetal Alchemist: Brotherhood.
- The story presented in the 2-part episode "The Other Brothers Elric" for episodes 11-12 and the last part of the story for episode 37, "The Flame Alchemist, The Bachelor Lieutenant, and the Mystery of Warehouse 13" involving Warehouse 13 was adapted from the first FMA Light Novel "The Land of Sand" instead of the manga chapters and manga bonus chapters unlike most of the other adapted material.
