Synopsis[]
Roland Deschain (Idris Elba), the last Gunslinger, is locked in an eternal battle with Walter O'Dim (Matthew McConaughey), also known as the Man in Black. The Gunslinger must prevent the Man in Black from toppling the Dark Tower, the key that holds the universe together. With the fate of worlds at stake, two men collide in the ultimate battle between good and evil.

- After poor test screenings, Sony spent $6m on re-shoots to help flesh out Idris Elba's Gunslinger character.
- Tom Hardy was considered for the role of the Man in Black.
- During the first act of the film, several Stephen King Easter eggs are visible. The twins from The Shining (1980), the family (including the dog) from Cujo (1983), and the car from Christine (1983) (as the toy pushed by Jake in his room) are each shown briefly.
