- An American Crime (2007) [Gertrude Baniszewski]: Dies (off-screen) of lung cancer, several years after her release from prison; her death is mentioned in Hayley McFarland's voice-over narration over a scene of Catherine sitting in her cell.
- Synecdoche, New York (2008) [Adele Lack]: Dies (off-screen) of lung cancer; we learn of her death when Philip Seymour Hoffman gets a letter informing him. (Thanks to Gordon)
- Percy Jackson & the Olympians: The Lightning Thief (2010) [Sally Jackson]: Consumed by a yellow flash when she gets chased by the Minotaur that sends her to the Underworld, as ordered by Steve Coogan. Later, she escapes with her son (Logan Lerman) back to the mortal world.
- Jackass Presents: Bad Grandpa (2013) [Ellie Zisman]: Dies from "vagitosis" (off screen) right before the film begins; her death is revealed when a doctor tells her husband (Johnny Knoxville) to his delight and a dummy of her body is shown during her funeral and when her husband puts her in his truck to travel cross country. (Note: Most of Keener's scenes were deleted from the film, but are featured in the film Bad Grandpa.5, in which Keener is in extensive old age makeup) (Played for Comedic Effect)
- Get Out (2017) [Missy Armitage]: Stabbed to death with her own knife by Daniel Kaluuya during a struggle.
- The Adam Project (2022) [Maya Sorian]: Keener plays 2 different versions of Maya Sorian, one from 2018 and one from 2050. 2018 Sorian is accidentally shot by the 2050 Sorian, causing the latter to cease to exist.

- Show Me a Hero (2015 TV Mini-Series) [Mary Dorman]: The text at the end of the series informs us that she died some time after the events depicted on the show. (Along with Alfred Molina, LaTanya Richardson Jackson and Peter Riegert).
