- Invisible Ghost (1941) [Jules Mason]: Strangled by Bela Lugosi while Bela is in a trance; after being discovered and mistakenly believed to be dead, he regains consciousness in the morgue, but dies before he can identify his killer.
- The Master Key [Ch. 2, Death Turns Wheel] (1945) [Flash Faust]: Killed at the end of a high speed chase. When the police finally box him in his car goes off the side of an overpass bridge where it crashes on the road below and burns taking Ernie with it.
