Film Deaths[]

  • Attack (1956) [Captain Erskine Cooney]: Shot in the back by William Smithers when Eddie tries to leave the basement and surrender to the SS. His body is later shot by Richard Jaeckel, Buddy Ebsen and Jon Shepodd (each shooting him one time each), to think they all did it. His body is then put onto a stretcher, lying beside Jack Palance's.
  • The Longest Day (1962) [Colonel Thompson]: Killed by an exploding shell while commanding his men up the beach.
  • Captain Newman, M.D. (1963) [Colonel Norval Algate Bliss]: Commits suicide by jumping from a water tower, after Gregory Peck tries to talk him down.
  • 7 Women (1966) [Charles Pether]: Killed (off-screen) by Mike Mazurki's men after Eddie leaves the mission to get help; we learn of his death afterwards when Hans William Lee informs the others at the mission.
  • Hustle (1975) [Leo Sellers] Shot by Ben Johnson.
  • Moving Violation (1976) [Alex Warren]: Gunned down in an assassination attempt on Stephen McHattie and Kay Lenz that was ordered by Lonny Chapman.
