- The Mollycoddle (1920) [Richard Marshall III/Richard Marshall IV/Richard Marshall V]: Playing a triple role as three generations of the same family, the grandfather "Richard Marshall III" is shot in the chest in a gunfight with outlaws in the desert, and the father "Richard Marshall IV" dies (off-screen), presumably of natural causes, at some point between the prologue and the main body of the film. (The main character "Richard Marshall V" survives the movie.)
- The Iron Mask (1929) [D'Artagnan]: Fatally wounded in a swordfight; he appears again as a ghost at the end of the movie. (Thanks to Tom)
