- Joan of Arc (1948) [Sir William Glasdale]: Commits suicide by falling to his death through a burning drawbridge during the siege of Orleans, refusing to listen to Ingrid Bergman 's pleas for him and the English troops to surrender, as Ingrid looks on in horror.
