- Matewan (1987) [Police Chief Sid Hatfield]: Shot dead (off-screen) in broad daylight on the steps of the McDowell County Courthouse in Welch by Bob Gunton. His death is mentioned in older Danny Radnor's narration.
- A Dangerous Woman (1993) [Getso]: Stabbed to death by Debra Winger.
- Dolores Claiborne (1995) [Joe St. George]: Falls down a well after Kathy Bates lures him into a trap, then knocks him down as he tries to climb out.
- Beyond the Call (1996) [Russell Gates]: Executed by electric chair.
- L.A. Confidential (1997) [Pierce Morehouse Patchett]: Wrists slit (off-screen) by James Cromwell's accomplices. His body is shown afterwards, sitting in a chair in his mansion when Russell Crowe and Guy Pearce investigate, and discover him.
- My Blueberry Nights (2007) [Arnie Copeland]: Found dead in a totaled car, having died in a car crash, implied to have been a suicide.
- Godzilla: King of the Monsters (2019) [Admiral William Stenz]: Although he survives in the movie, there is an unused deleted scene, in which he is killed by King Ghidorah while his submarine takes heavy damage. (Note: Admiral Stenz was originally supposed to die during the battle of Washington DC, but director Michael Doughtry felt it didn't feel right killing him off, so he survives in the movie.)
- Nightmare Alley (2021) [Pete Krumstein]: Poisoned off-screen after Bradley Cooper gives him wood alcohol instead of whiskey. His body is later shown as onlookers watch.

- House: Lockdown (2010) [Nash]: Dies (off-screen) from complications of ischaemic cardiomyopathy after Hugh Laurie unlocks his morphine regulator.
- Hemingway & Gellhorn (2012 TV) [John Dos Passos]: Details needed.
- The Blacklist: The Director (No 24): Conclusion (2016) [Peter Kotsiopulos/The Director]: Dies after being thrown out of a plane by James Spader shortly after being framed by James of being part of The Cabal.
- The Expanse: Cibola Burn (2019) [Klaes Ashford]: Dies after being thrown out the airlock of a spaceship by Keon Alexander and Jasai Chase-Owens.
