Trivia[]
- The English dub for Code Geass is the final one directed by Kevin Seymour, and the final one done by Animaze/ ZRO Limit Productions before Kevin's untimely death in 2014.
- The timeline of Code Geass takes place in an apocryphal version of the 1960s, despite the more futuristic environment.
- This is the final anime series in which Amy Kincaid did any voice acting, having previously done voiceover work for New Generation Pictures.
- Geass (or Geas) is a term used in Irish Mythology that means 'contract' or 'vow'.
- Code Geass is one of the most popular anime series around the world, but Sunrise expected it to be a failure.
- During the first season, fans joked that Lelouch's maid Sayoko was secretly a ninja, explaining the occasional flashes of competence seen behind her quiet exterior. Between seasons the staff acknowledged the joke, and in R2 it's revealed that she is in fact the heiress to the Shinozaki ninja clan.
- The basic idea for the plot consisted of a "hero" who led a secret organization, which was later developed into a conflict between two characters with different values and who belonged to the same military unit, who eventually became Lelouch Lamperouge and Suzaku Kururugi.
- Lelouch's original character design was meant to have white hair.
- Code Geass has one full length anime adaptation, however there are four different manga adaptations as well as three games based on it. two spin off OVAs, and a film version of the original series, with other plans in the works.
- Sunrise was one of the co-animators who provided animation for Batman: The Animated Series (1992), along with TMS Entertainment and Spectrum Animation. One could argue that Lelouch's costume for Zero evokes Batman's suit.
