Bill Williams (1921 - 1964)

Died performing a routine stunt with a colleague during The Hallelujah Trail (1965) production. The stunt called for Williams and fellow-rider to guide a horse-drawn wagon toward a cliff. As the horses separated, both men were supposed to jump clear as the wagon continued on over the cliff. Williams did not manage to jump clear and so perished performing the stunt.

  • The Alamo (1960) [Tennessean]: As one of the band that followed John Wayne to Texas; Bill is killed along with the rest of the Alamo defenders as the fort was overrun by Mexican forces.
