- Gone with the Wind (1939) [Ellen O'Hara]: Dies from typhoid (off-screen). Her body is shown lying in preparation for her funeral when her daughter (Vivien Leigh) enters the room.
- All This, and Heaven Too (1940) [Frances, Duchesse de Praslin]: Beaten to death (off-screen) by Charles Boyer. The scene fades out with a close-up of Barbara screaming as Charles approaches her menacingly; her body is shown afterwards.
- Whirlpool (1949) [Theresa Randolph]: Strangled (off-srceen) by Jose Ferrer in her home; her body is shown afterwards when Gene Tierney discover her sitting on the couch.
- Angel Face (1952) [Mrs. Catherine Tremayne]: Killed in a car crash, along with Herbert Marshall, when Barbara steps on the gas pedal sending their car over a cliff. (Jean Simmons later admits to rigging the car for it to happen).
