Plot Synopsis[]

After his hometown is destroyed and his mother (Yoshino Takamori/Jessica Cavanagh) is killed, young Eren Jaeger (Yuki Kaji/Bryce Papenbrook) vows to cleanse the earth of the giant humanoid Titans that have brought humanity to the brink of extinction.

Trivia[]

The manga artist, Hajime Isayama, got the idea for the Titans when he encountered a drunk customer at a coffee shop he worked in. He was inspired by the inability to communicate and realised the most dangerous thing was the human race.
Eren's name, like his last name, has German roots. "Eren" stand for the German word "Ehre" (plural "Ehren"), which means honor. Isayama has stated that part of the reason he chose the name "Eren" for the character is because it sounds feminine, which would make it easier to remember.
Aspects of Levi's design and personality were based on Rorschach from Watchmen.
The titans in both anime and manga are completely naked. It's not really offensive as they don't have any sexual organ. However, in the Malaysian version of manga, the titans appear to be wearing pants because of the censorship law there.
The Attack on Titan manga sold over 8 million copies in 2014 dethroning One Piece for the top selling Japanese manga of that year.
In the anime, the character, Hange Zoe, is voiced by a woman. However, in the manga, Hange's gender is unknown to the reader. This is because the writer, Hajime Isayama, felt that Hange's gender didn't matter to the story line and left it up to the reader to decide.
Mikasa is the only character who is Asian. She is Japanese European, her mother being Japanese and her father being European.
MAPPA studio took over production for the final season when producers had wanted to take the production to another studio by the third season. Producers Toshihiro Maeda and Kensuke Tateishi said they shopped around but most studios weren't up to their standards or declined due to the expected work volume except for MAPPA who responded with a "we'll think about it." The people at WIT Studio whom had produced the show since 2013 have reportedly said they're comfortable with MAPPA taking over production.
Isayama has been vocal for his love of shows like Game of Thrones and Breaking Bad. He even revealed that Falco Grice is based on Jesse Pinkman, played by Aaron Paul. The show's Saul Goodman as well as many of game of thrones characters even made "cameos" in the manga where they appeared as titans.
Levi is around 5'3 and is the shortest adult male character so far.
Captain America and Spider-Man once fought the titans. In a crossover comic titled "Attack on Avengers" the eight page adventure plays out the scenario of what happens when the titans invade the marvel universe. Written by hajime isayama and illustrated by Gerardo Sandoval.
The character Moses had his name changed from Braun, most likely to avoid confusion with Reinier as Braun is also his surname.
The show's protaganist Eren Jaegar's (or Jäger's) name in english would be Eren Hunter.
Attack on Titan (currently at 66 episodes) has 9 episodes in IMDb's top 50 rated episodes. Out of those 9, AoT has 3 that are in the top 5. Assault with a 10 star rating, Hero with a 9.9-10 star rating, and Perfect game with a 9.9 rating. And many more to come soon.
There are a lot of small differences in the anime and manga. There are many name changes due to translations. For example, Eren's mother's name is changed from Kalura to Carla. Another change would be Eren's coloring. Originally his eyes were grey in the manga and in the anime they have been changed to green.
Yelena is the tallest character in the Reconnaissance Corps as her length is (202 cm) followed by jean (190 cm) and Eren the main character of the show his length is (183 cm).
In an interview Hajime Isayama made fun of the character Armin Arlert by saying that Armin was a girl.
Attack on Titan's Writer is inspired by Eiichiro Oda (One Piece's Writer).

The English voice actor for Eren Jaeger, Bryce Papenbrook, also voices Kazuto (Kirito) from Sword Art Online. The Japanese voice actor, Yuki Kaji, also voices Finnian from Kuroshitsuji in addition to Eren.
The voice actor for Eren Jaeger (Yuki Kaji) also is the voice of popular anime protagonists Issei Hyoudou from "Highschool DxD" as well as Melodias from "The Seven Deadly Sins" and Shoto Todoroki from "My Hero Academia"
