Kafka (1991) [Inspector Grubach]: Killed by an assassin.
The Power of One (1992) [Karl 'Doc' von Vollensteen]: Dies off-screen during the passage of time.
The House of the Spirits (1993) [Severo del Valle]: Decapitated when the car is hit by a train while he's riding with Vanessa Redgrave.
Shine (1996) [Peter Helfgott]: Dies (off-screen) of old age/natural causes.
The Peacemaker (1997) [Dimitri Vertikoff]: Shot repeatedly in the back by one of the mobster assassins as Nicole Kidman and George Clooney look on in shock from their car.
Jakob the Liar (1999) [Kirschbaum]: Poisons himself, after refusing to sell out the Jews to the Nazis, as Robin Williams and Bob Balaban find his body and grieve over him, and pay their respects with a Hebrew prayer.
The Thirteenth Floor (1999) [Hannon Fuller/Grierson]: Playing a dual role, "Hannon" is stabbed to death with a switchblade by the possessed Craig Bierko.
Local Color (2006) [Nikolai Serov]: Dies (off screen) of old age compounded by heavy drinking a few months after Trevor Morgan's last visit, we find out about his death from the voice-over narration.
The International (2009) [Wilhelm Wexler]: Shot in the chest (off-screen) by a hitman (presumably Franco Trevisi) outside a building; his body is shown afterwards when Ulrich Thomsen discovers him.
