Alan Bates (1934 - 2003)
Film Deaths[]
- Britannia Hosital (1982) [Mr. Macready]: Dies in the hospital when Graham Crowden disconnects his life-support equipment, then cuts off Alan's head to use as part of his Frankenstein-like patchwork creation.
- The Wicked Lady (1983) [Jerry Jackson]: Shot twice in the chest by Faye Dunaway.
- A Prayer for the Dying (1987) [Jack Meehan]: Killed in an explosion when his own bomb goes off as he's carrying it across the roof.
- Hamlet (1990) [King Claudius]: Stabbed in the stomach with a poison-tipped sword by Mel Gibson, then forced to drink the wine he himself had poisoned.
- The Sum of All Fears (2002) [Richard Dressler]: Killed in an explosion when he unwittingly uses a booby-trapped cigarette lighter in his car. (after Sven-Ole Thorsen had first went in and turned on the ignition, believing the bomb was there). This is part of a montage of assassinations on those who carried out the Baltimore nuclear attacks.
Television Deaths[]
- Bertie and Elizabeth (2002) [King George V]: Dies of an illness with his family by his side. (It's been a while since I've seen this film)
