  • The Blue Bird (1940) [Grandpa Tyl]: Dies (off-screen) of old age/natural causes, some time before the story begins; he appears as a spirit (along with Cecilia Loftus) when their grandchildren (Shirley Temple and Johnny Russell) visit the Land of the Past and wake them up.
  • Hitler's Madman (Hitler's Hangman) (1943) [Father Cemlanek]: Shot to death by a Nazi guard after John Carradine provokes Al into rushing him in the town square.
