Plot Synopsis[]

Following the events at home, the Abbott family (Emily Blunt, Millicent Simmonds, & Noah Jupe) now face the terrors of the outside world. Forced to venture into the unknown, they realize that the creatures that hunt by sound are not the only threats that lurk beyond the sand path.

  1. On The Big Picture Podcast, John Krasinski stated that he originally did not want to be involved in this sequel, but the producer convinced him to come over and pitch his ideas to the studio. After three weeks, they asked him to write the story, with the idea that directorial duties would be handed over to other filmmakers. Krasinski finally offered to come back as director, jokingly suggesting that he was "Jedi mind tricked into signing on to the sequel."
  2. The film's budget was three times the size of the first film.
  3. The youngest son Beau is played by young actor Cade Woodward in the first film. In the flashback scenes of the second movie, Beau is played by Cade's younger brother Dean Woodward.
  4. According to John Krasinski, in the opening town scene he passes by "Brody's Pizzeria", a nod to the character Chief Brody from Steven Spielberg's Jaws (1975).
  5. When he finally decided on an idea, John Krasinski was able to write his first draft screenplay in just three and a half weeks.
  6. Brian Tyree Henry was originally cast but dropped out due to scheduling conflicts. Djimon Hounsou replaced him while the movie was already into production.

  16. In the radio station all the lights are actually blinking to the beat of "Beyond the sea." The song was played on repeat from a mini disc player.
  17. Krasinski finished editing A Quiet Place Part II only a few days before its first premiere in New York City in 2020. Similarly, he finished editing A Quiet Place the morning of its premiere at SXSW in 2018.
